What happens if I get sick or injured while in Cuba?

Most US airlines include the cost of the ASISTUR SA Cuban health insurance policy provided by ESICUBA in the cost of your ticket (usually your boarding pass serves as proof of insurance). Please, double check with your airline about this requirement.
Most Canadian airlines offer the ASISTUR SA Cuban health insurance coverage as an add-on after booking a flight. The coverage may include medical treatment, trip cancellation or interruption, baggage loss, and other travel-related risks.
If Asistur Cuban Medical Insurance is not included by your air carrier, please contact us to secure it through us at an additional cost.
In the event that you receive medical treatment in Cuba, and pay out of pocket for it because you couldn’t contact ASISTUR SA for any given reason during the treatment, you can make a claim at the ASISTUR SA Office in Havana. It is important you make your claims to ASISTUR SA Office in Havana before you leave the country. You will not be able to make any claims once you are back at home. You have to make this claim in person and consider the fact that it may take a number of days for ASISTUR SA to process your claim. You will need to present a letter explaining your claim (hand written will do), all receipts of the medical expenses and disbursements you incurred in, your ASISTUR policy number and your passport.
