Authentic Cuba Travel® Confirms Uninterrupted Tour Operations to Cuba Despite Hurricane Melissa

Authentic Cuba Travel® wishes to inform all our travelers and partners that despite the recent impact of Hurricane Melissa on the eastern provinces of Cuba, our tours to the country remain unaffected and will continue as scheduled for the remainder of 2025 and into 2026.

Hurricane Melissa, which made landfall on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, after being downgraded to a Category 3 storm, primarily affected areas over 500 miles away from Havana. Major tourist destinations such as Havana, Cienfuegos, Trinidad de Cuba, Vinales Valley, Pinar del Rio, Santa Clara, Varadero, Jardines del Rey, Cayo Santa Maria, and Cayo Largo were not impacted and continue to operate normally.

While the eastern Cuban communities have reported significant damage to infrastructure and agriculture, we are relieved to note that no fatalities occurred, thanks to the evacuation of over 735,000 residents. Humanitarian efforts are underway, with UNICEF and the Pan American Health Organization providing essential aid, including medical supplies, roofing materials, and educational resources.

In an unprecedented move, the U.S. State Department has issued a Declaration of Humanitarian Assistance for Cuba, although specific details on the aid delivery remain forthcoming.

We want to reassure our travelers that their safety and experience remain our top priorities. Our team is closely monitoring the situation and is in constant communication with local partners to ensure a seamless travel experience.
